Evans Partners with NGO for Better Education in Rivers State
As part of its support in enhancing education in Nigeria, Evans Brothers Nigeria Publishers recently held a workshop for teachers of various Local Governments in Rivers State. The workshop had about 350 participants in attendance from mostly Nursery School teachers who have been employed to teach in the various schools established by the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI), an NGO founded by her Excellency Mrs Judith Amaechi, the wife of the Executive Governor of Rivers State.

The workshop centered on the topic: ACTIVE PARTICIPATORY TEACHING AND LEARNING AND THE USE OF DEVELOPMENTALLY APPRPRIOATE CURRICULUM; FOCUSING ON THE EVANS NURSERY TEXTBOOKS.

The facilitator, Mrs Oyindamola Sonola took the participants through the various principles of handling the preschool classes and enlightened them on the importance of developing personal skill in the teaching of children. She highlighted the various elements of Evans Curriculum and the use of Evans Nursery Text in effective teaching in the nursery classes. She also encouraged participants to adopt the active learning principle approach when teaching. This approach focuses on getting the pupils to be more involved in the teaching and learning process. The session ended with practical teaching sessions with the use of Evans Nursery Books.
